Colloquies of Erasmus, Volume I

by Desiderius Erasmus

Summary

The Colloquies of Erasmus (1878) is a collection of"conversations" on a myriad of topics written by Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus (most often referred to as simply"Erasmus"). This version was edited by Rev. E Johnson, translated by N. Bailey, and published in London. This work has background information about Bailey's translation and a brief biography of Erasmus before the colloquies themselves. There are several dozen conversations recounted here with such titles as"The Old Men's Dialogue,""The Beggars Dialogue," and"The Uneasy Wife," Interesting and entertaining conversations meant to edify. It's the best of both worlds.
