Life of David

“David is like his own harp" says Alexander MacLaren in his introduction to The Life of David: As Reflected in His Psalms. MacLaren reviews the high and low notes of David's life. David was not only a man after God's own heart, but he was military leader, giant slayer, creative psalmist, leader of people and repentant sinner. His life story has some pretty low notes too. The Bible records his adultery with Bathsheba, his murder of Uriah, his deceit, his politically motivated actions of including a prideful census and vengeance on his"enemies." The Psalms share it all as David reflects on his own life with it successes and failures.
